Until recently, engineers had to design and build prototypes in offices, based on 2D drawings. This is a time-consuming and expensive process. With the advent of new layer manufacturing and CAD/CAM technologies, prototypes can now be quickly produced directly from 3D computer models. There are many different technologies for rapid prototyping.

Printing materials used in 3D production: – metal, plastic, rubber and silicone.

Printing technologies:

  • Selective Laser Melting (SLM)
  • Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)
  • Digital Light Processing (DLP)
  • Stereolithography (SLA)

Technologies used in 3D scanning:
